House removals across the UK

The standard residential offering. A three- or four-bedroom move where the bedroom that is half-craft-room and half-storage is the part that takes longest, and the kettle being the last thing in and first thing out is not negotiable.

House removals are our most common job. Most are organised by a parent juggling a conveyancing chain, school dates and the endless small decisions a family move brings. We plan them room by room: the kitchen is its own logistical project (plates, glassware, the cupboard with thirty-eight pieces of Tupperware), the bedrooms are sentimentally heavy but physically straightforward, the loft is the wildcard that nobody mentions until the surveyor opens the hatch.

What changes the move's shape isn't the contents so much as the access at both ends. A wide driveway and a hallway that takes the bigger sofa is a different move from a third-floor flat with a lift that's smaller than the wardrobe. The survey is the cleanest way to size the lorry and spot the access quirks; for most full-house moves it is worth the time. For smaller homes (two-bedroom flats, single-bedroom moves where you're not taking the kitchen) photos through every room and an inventory note are usually enough.

Goods-in-transit cover applies for the full route. The lorry that loads at the old address is the same lorry that unloads at the new one; the same crew handles both ends. If the new place isn't ready, storage at either end can be quoted alongside the move itself — see the storage page for the detail.

What's included as standard

  • Loading at the old address with the same crew who quoted the move
  • Transit and unloading at the new address
  • Goods-in-transit cover for the full route
  • Inventory check at both ends
  • Disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture (beds, wardrobes, dining tables) where access requires it

What affects the quote for house removals?

We don't publish prices because these factors differ for every move. The written quote shows each one as its own line.

  • How much is moving, which the survey turns into an inventory
  • Access at both addresses: stairs, lifts, parking and how far the vehicle stands from the door
  • Whether you add packing, dismantling of large furniture or storage
  • The distance between the two homes and whether the route allows a shared load

What to mention when you book

  • Survey timing — book the survey early enough that any access constraints (lift availability, parking permits, conservation-area restrictions) can be sorted before loading day rather than discovered on it.
  • The wildcard rooms — loft, garage, shed, that cupboard under the stairs. Mention them at survey even if they don't seem like much; volume adds up.
  • Packing service decision — for tight school-year timing or busy households, the packing service is the difference between finishing on schedule and not. Quoted as a separate line so you can see the cost.

House removals: common questions

General questions about quotes, insurance and customs are on the FAQ page.

Do you take everything from the old house, or just the big stuff?
Whatever's on the inventory. Whole-house moves include kitchen contents, wardrobe contents, books, ornaments, the lot. The inventory we agree at survey is the contract — anything on it is loaded.
Can you move us in stages?
Yes. Staged moves are common when the dates don't line up: we load everything, hold it securely, then deliver when the new home is ready, or we collect in two loads if the old property empties gradually. The plan goes in the written quote.
What about the kettle and the toaster?
Pack them last so they come off the lorry first at the new address. Mention to the crew on loading day that you want the kettle box flagged and accessible — they will keep it within reach.

How do you book house removals?

  1. Send the details. Both addresses, what is moving and any dates you know, through the quote form or by calling 0151 453 1036.
  2. Survey or photos. We arrange a survey for larger or harder-access moves; photos are enough for most small ones.
  3. Written quote. Itemised, with the cover level and any optional extras shown as separate lines.
  4. Confirmation. Once you accept, we confirm dates and access in writing.
